Driver & Fabrication Technician

Location: Lawton Place, Benover Road, Yalding, ME18 6AU

Hours: Full-time, regular hours with some flexibility (Monday–Saturday)

About the role

This is a practical, hands-on position combining delivery work with fabrication.

You will deliver and collect POD-it storage units across Kent using a 3.5-tonne truck equipped with a crane, and you will help manufacture and finish the pods onsite.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Delivery

  • Safely drive our 3.5t POD-it truck to customer locations.
  • Operate the vehicle-mounted crane (training provided).
  • Carry out routine vehicle checks.
  • Represent POD-it professionally when interacting with customers.

Fabrication & Manufacturing

  • Assist in manufacturing steel frames for POD-it storage units.
  • MIG welding (experience welcome, training provided).
  • Work in the print area to apply printed and laminated designs onto ACM panels.
  • Rivet and assemble panels to complete finished pods.

Yard & General Duties

  • Keep the yard safe, tidy and organised.
  • Assist with materials handling, loading and unloading using a forklift (training provided).
  • Support general maintenance and improvement work around the site.
Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Full UK driving licence (suitable for 3.5t vehicle).
  • Confident driver comfortable with larger vehicles.
  • Practical, hands-on attitude with willingness to learn.
  • Physically fit (lifting and manual handling required).
  • Reliable, punctual, and available Monday to Saturday.
  • Clear and professional communication.

Desirable (Training Provided)

  • MIG welding experience.
  • Forklift experience or licence.
  • Experience in fabrication, workshop, construction or similar environments.
  • Experience with cranes or lifting equipment.

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised and dependable Operations & Customer Support Coordinator to support the smooth running of POD-it.

You will be the central point of communication between customers, drivers and workshop staff, ensuring bookings are accurate, information is clear, and the business runs efficiently day to day.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured work, takes ownership, and can bring order to a fast-moving, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Booking Support

  • Manage customer enquiries by phone and email.
  • Handle POD-it bookings, confirm delivery/collection details and update schedules.
  • Provide friendly, professional support throughout the customer journey.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and communication logs.

Operational Coordination

  • Manage daily delivery and collection schedules.
  • Liaise with workshop and yard teams to confirm pod availability and timings.
  • Monitor inventory of materials and consumables and raise purchase requests.
  • Ensure internal systems, calendars and reminders are always up to date.

Office & Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain organised digital and paper filing systems.
  • Prepare simple documents such as invoices, receipts and booking confirmations.
  • Update website content (training provided).
  • Support management with administrative and operational tasks.
Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident using email, spreadsheets and general oSice software.
  • Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • Reliable, punctual and comfortable working in a varied role.
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a small team.

Desirable

  • Experience in customer service, operations or oSice coordination.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Acuity) or website platforms
  • Basic bookkeeping understanding (e.g., invoicing, expenses).
  • Interest in small business operations and improving systems.
